Art has always had an important place in my life and I continue to pursue it as a passionate interest along with my work as art designer. Art is a form of self-expression. I believe we are all artists, because we are all capable of emotion and innovative thinking.
For me, what is to be considered artistic and beautiful is undefinable. Yet it is in this was incredibly powerful - something far greater than the sum of its parts. Poetry, for instance, is a string of words - but these words open up a whole new world of meaning. A beautiful painting is riveting because it goes far beyond the two dimensions of the canvas on which it is created. Art is a spiritual journey. It is not materialistic, or even rational. And neither should it be. |

In my opinion, ordinarily, art is a form of expressing yourself through your work. It need not be through paintings. It can also be the way you present yourself and present your work. Art is language to me. It is the language of human greatness and potential, both good and bad. It allows us to 'speak' of and express what we aspire to. It raises us from the mundane into excellence. It gives us poignancy. It liberates us from our systematic lives into the fullness of being human. It is giftedness. It is a reality seen, but not lived, yet brought to offer as life.
Some days, I see all of life as art. Art is something made or performed by people, It's a creative process but not in the same way as, for instance, science. It inspires me, entertains me, makes me feel and sometimes educates me. There may be a message - some is mundane, some is profound. It uses our senses visually, aurally and sometimes tacitly - sound, movement, words, light and colour. Stories and Pictures. Its one of the things unique to humanity. A result or construct of our senses, intelligence, emotions and consciousness. It's a reflection and contribution to the richness of the human experience. I have been inspired to make art work using leather for quite some time. I feel attracted to the marks and natural edges of the leather. Many people think these are flaws , but for me I feel they are unique and charming. I found that each piece of leather has a different shape and texture , as well as being unique in its edges and marks. If I try to select some unique edges of the piece of leather or leather containing some marks and place it in the right way , it can create a different art vision. I would like to tell people to see the flaws of the leather in a different way , some points of imperfection can in fact be points of beauty in your new perception , especially in handmade art and crafts. So I hope I can convey this message via my leather art works. Please enjoy the art work using your new perception of the beauty of leather. |
